There are a lot of reasons that hospitals choose to implement Kit Check. Some need to free up pharmacist time for clinical tasks. Others want to have more consistency in their processes or more efficiency when the disruption of drug shortages or recalls arise. MedStar Georgetown took action because a near miss could have resulted in patient harm.

In the video above, MedStar Georgetown Director of Pharmacy Geoff Cox, explains how a pharmacy kit stocking error led to a public discussion at the hospital about how to improve accuracy and reduce patient safety risk. He also outlines the challenge of managing complex manual processes and the value Kit Check’s automation solution brings to the pharmacy.

Watch the video and then read about Georgetown MedStar’s presentation at ASHP Summer Meeting where Dr. Cox discussed using Kit Check with PharMEDium.
